Summer is coming to an end. The kids are going back to school. Maybe you aren’t quite ready for summer to be over. Maybe you had plans to take a big trip somewhere and it just never happened. Either way, I say it’s the perfect time to start planning your next big adventure! How does a trip to sunny Florida sound? Sandy beaches, turquoise water, nature, thrills, festivals. Whatever time of year, whatever your vacation style, you’re sure to have a great time when you visit Panama City Beach.
More Than a Summer Destination
Florida in the “off-season”.. ahh, it’s my favorite! Let’s be honest, there really is no BAD time to go to Florida. As a former Floridian myself, I can tell you that Fall and Winter are my absolute favorite times of the year there, hands down! You can still do all of the fun summer activities, but without the big crowds. The beaches are emptier, it’s still sunny and warm without being scorching hot, and then there are all the festivals and events!
If you haven’t read it already, be sure to check out my previous PCB post about all the amazing adventures to be had in Panama City year round. Panama City Beach didn’t earn the name the Real. FUN. Beach. for nothing! Whether you’re looking for a vacation that’s more adventurous or more low-key, PCB has something fun for the whole family, the dogs included! Some of my personal favorites are kayaking and snorkeling, dog-friendly hiking trails and a beach JUST for the pups to run free and play in the surf.
With so many fun activities to choose from for your next vacation, it’s easy to really make it yours!
“FALL” in Love with PCB
There really is something fun and unique in PCB for every kind of traveler, and fall and winter are no exception. So much so, in fact, that I thought I’d do a follow-up to share some of my favorite fall and winter PCB activities! I hope it inspires you to think outside the box that is summer vacation and plan a different kind of beach trip.
Fall & Winter in PCB is Festival Season!
In addition to all of the year-round options in PCB, the fall or winter here comes with a full calendar of fun events! Here are my top itinerary fall/winter itinerary items when we visit the Real. FUN. Beach. It’ll be a trip jam-packed with water sports like boating and paddle boarding, plus lots of beach time with the dogs, thrills like zip-lining and biking, and at least one of PCB’s awesome annual festivals. There are 2 in particular that I would just LOVE to make it to this year:
Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam: Every Year on Labor Day Weekend!
The top Panama City Beach festival on my list is is DEFINITELY Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam. What better way is there to spend Labor Day weekend than jamming out on the beach? Ahh to spend the day playing in the sand and sun, listening to some of the most exciting acts in country and southern rock music and then watch the sunset while dancing the night away. Sign me up! Meet me there next Labor Day? Who’s in?
Pirates of the High Seas Fest: October 5-7
Who doesn’t love pirates? Let’s be honest, pirates are cool no matter how old you are. Who doesn’t want to put on an awesome costume and be a pirate for the day? When I lived in Tampa, we all anxiously awaited the arrival of Gasparilla each year, and Pirates of the High Seas Fest sounds just as awesome. I would love to check it out! It’s a FREE festival with pirate parades (one for the kids, one for adults), live music, fireworks and they even drop 8,000 beach balls from the sky??!! The little kid in me is so excited just thinking about it!
If neither of these are your style, there are plenty of other festivals and events to choose from:
- Lobster Festival & Tournament: September 17-23
- Panama City Beach Oktoberfest: October 12-13
- Bloody Mary & Music Festival: October 20
- 18th Annual Thunder Beach Autumn Rally: October 24-28
- Emerald Coast Cruizin’ Car Show: November 7-10
- Shrimp, Crab & Oyster Festival: November 10
- Beach Home for the Holidays: November 23-24
- Panama City Beach Marathon: December 1
- New Year’s Eve Beach Ball Drop: December 31
So don’t pack up your beachwear just yet! There’s still plenty of sand, sun and FUN to be had in Panama City Beach! What are you waiting for? Head on over the the PCB website to plan your fun today!
