We all know that in order for us to live long, happy lives, we need to eat right and exercise. Unlike humans though, dogs don’t have a say in what they eat, so it’s up to us to make the best choices for them that we can. As you know, we’ve been trying NomNomNow, fresh dog food, delivered! The dogs have been on it for a month and I can’t wait to share our thoughts with you!

What I love about NomNomNow:
Fresh ingredients you can see –
The first thing I noticed when I started feeding NomNomNow was the ingredients. Not just on the label or the packaging, but the actual ingredients that you can SEE in the food. NomNomNow uses meat, starches, vegetables, healthy oils, and a vitamin and nutrient blend to ensure your dog gets all the nutrients their bodies need. And I love that they do it without any additives or artificial ingredients.
Convenience –
A home cooked or raw dog food diet is way better than any bag of food you’ll find at the pet store, but it’s also really time consuming. Driving around sourcing ingredients, meal prep… With NomNomNow, you get the benefits of a fresh food made with human grade ingredients, without all the hassle. The food is cooked fresh and packaged by hand, and arrives at your door fresh, never frozen. All you have to do is take a meal pack out of your fridge, tear open a package, and put it in your dog’s bowl. Each package is one balanced, complete meal for your pup. They even include transition meals in your first delivery to slowly switch your dog to NomNomNow.
I cannot tell you how much easier meal time is in our house now that all I have to do is tear open 4 packages and put them in bowls. It’s been a game changer.
So how did the dogs do?
Since we started feeding NomNomNow, the energy level around mealtime is definitely heightened, to put it mildly. They see those meal packets come out of the fridge and their little butts get to wiggling.. and spinning… They eventually sit nicely for their bowls, but it takes a whole lot of effort to contain their excitement. Then, within 30 seconds of their bowls hitting the floor, they’re being licked clean. They love their NomNomNow so much, they cannot let one crumb go to waste!
Because we transitioned to NomNomNow from food of a similarly high quality, we did not see any substantial changes in our dogs’ energy, coats, etc. But that to me speaks volumes! With how much time, effort, and research that I put into my dogs’ diets, I am very pleased to have found a more convenient option that still gives me similar end results. My dogs’ energy levels are high, their coats look great, and I have never seen them more excited for mealtime. And if you’re currently feeding a lower quality diet, especially kibble, I would expect the changes in your dog’s energy and appearance to be pretty dramatic.
Ringo has been battling some allergy issues for almost a year now. In addition to seasonal allergies, he has had allergic reactions to several different dog foods. While the rest of the dogs transitioned without any issues, Ringo started to get itchy again after a few days of switching to NomNomNow.
The only common ingredient between the NomNomNow recipe that he was eating (Porkalicious Potluck) and the previous food that he had issues with was potatoes! I wasn’t sure if that was the culprit, but I decided to switch him to a recipe without potatoes in it and see what happened. Thankfully, it’s really easy to change or update your subscription right on NomNomNow’s website. All I had to do to test my theory was log in and change Ringo’s recipe selection for our next delivery. We tried Tasty Turkey Fare for delivery #2, which has rice instead of potatoes, and I am happy to say that he’s had no more itchiness.
Not all foods work for all dogs, but between NomNomNow’s 5 recipes, there is bound to be a food that works for your pup!
And I can’t forget about the treats! NomNomNow’s Chicken Jerky treats are a BIG hit in our house. These one-ingredient treats are perfect for taking on hikes.
My Final Thoughts
NomNomNow is a very convenient fresh dog food option. I love the ease of ordering and the email notifications they send when your food is on the way, as well as when it is delivered. My dogs LOVE the taste and are really excited at mealtime. Being able to just rip open a few packets makes feeding 4 dogs a breeze and I love that they’re recyclable too. I think NomNomNow is a great option for people who want to feed their dogs fresh cooked meals but don’t have the time.
Our needs are a little different than your average dog owner. For our active pack, I believe NomNomNow is a little too high in carbs. Right now, each recipe includes a good amount of potato or rice, neither of which I like to feed my dogs regularly. They need higher protein content to meet the needs of their active lifestyles (especially my girls), so I’ve been supplementing their NomNomNow meals with added protein to compensate on high activity days. If in the future they release a new recipe with just meat and vegetables, we would be very interested in trying NomNomNow again.
That being said, I’m going to keep some NomNomNow meals on hand. The pre-packaged meals will be great for days when I just don’t have the time for meal prep. I may even mix in some NomNomNow with their regular meals for variety, which the dogs will love!

We prep our own food, adding things like bone meal, sardine powder and such. And yeah – we have little to no starch. Other than some sweet potato from time to time. At 3.5 pounds we have to really watch the starch intake. But having just had a week out flat due to a flu – I think it’s nice to have options like this you can reach for when you physically just can’t…
That actually looks good enough for ME to eat! When we still had Magic, we did offer fresh food as supplement to his regular high quality kibble, because of the cost and time involved to feed a 90-lb dog. This looks like a good option.
Something like this for cats would be ace! I know I need something in the renal line for Harvey, so maybe the next step is tasty AND healthy for a senior pup or cat. I can dream right?
They have done their research as far as notifications and recycling goes too haven’t they? I would worry if I was faced with something ‘disposable’ but these people know their stuff.
I’m glad that you were able to resolve Ringo’s itchiness, and hopefully, potatoes are his only food sensitivity. My little allergy prone dog did well with the turkey too.
Pets are as unique as people. Each needing special dietary requirements. My Lyla needs a special diet herself but I must say my experience with NomNomNow was excellent and smelled SO good I almost tried it!
I would love to try our dogs on fresh or raw, but our Ginger is allergic to almost every protein. The only one I’ve found that works for her is Salmon. Tried, chicken, beef, pork, and turkey. They all make her itch 🙁
Great, honest review. I’m using a high quality kibble, but I like to keep some wet food on hand to treat them and use for Kong’s and such, but I haven’t found something good yet, so I might have to try this!
I love that you were able to change the recipe so easily from one with potatoes to one with rice. I know my dogs loved the taste of NomNomNow and feeding it could not have been easier.
I did contact NomNomnow, and although their meals look good, the plan seems to be too expensive (nearly $35/week). I might give it a try soon to see if Babu likes it.
