If you’ve been following our pack for a while, you know by now that my dogs’ health is REALLY important to me. I believe that physical activity and proper nutrition are paramount to having a happy, healthy dog. Sounds like a no-brainer right? It should be, but with how many obese dogs I see everyday, and with big dog food companies stuffing their foods with low quality ingredients, I feel the need to constantly encourage other dog owners to up their game too! Extending your dog’s life can be as easy as some extra walks around the block (or up a mountain!) and better, more nutritious food.
Which is why I was SO excited to test out NomNomNow, fresh dog food formulated
by a board-certified vet nutritionist and delivered straight to your door!
Most dog owners really do want to give their dogs proper nutrition. They want them to thrive, to lead long, happy healthy lives, but it’s hard to know who to trust. Before I agreed to have my dogs try NomNomNow, I did some research into the company and the food.
I was happy to discover that their recipes are made up of only a handful of ingredients: meat, vegetables, healthy oils, and a vitamin and nutrient blend. They use only human grade ingredients and no additives or artificial anything. It’s lightly cooked and packed with nutrients! It’s made weekly, packaged immediately, and shipped straight to your door fresh, never frozen. And most importantly, all of the meals are formulated by one of the world’s foremost veterinary nutrition experts, Dr. Justin Shmalberg!
Okay, so that all sounds awesome. How do I sign up?
Signing up for the NomNomNow is easy. You just go to their website and input some information about your dog(s). Things like age, breed, activity level, and weight. Not only do they want to know what your dog weighs now, but what their ideal adult weight is too. This is because NomNomNow comes individually wrapped and perfectly portioned for your dog’s caloric needs.
I love this so much! We have struggled a bit with Ringo’s weight, despite all of our efforts to properly portion control and keep him really active, so it’ll be nice to know that his meals are being weighed out by experts and all I have to do is feed it to him!
Once you put in your dog’s info, you get to choose from one of 5 fresh recipes. They are Heartland Beef Mash, Tasty Turkey Fare, Chicken Chow-Wow, Porkalicious Potluck, and Egg & Veggie Medley.
I opted to try Boomer and Ringo on the Porkalicious Potluck and ordered the Heartand Beef Mash for Helo and Roxie. I love that NomNomNow give you a compete breakdown of what is in each recipe, as well as how much protein, fat, and carbs are in each meal.
Currently, NomNomNow is not set up for families on the East Coast with large packs like mine, so my ordering process required an extra step. I put in the order for 2 of my dogs, then customer service added the other two on their end. Dealing with customer service was easy and they were really helpful, so it wasn’t a big deal. I have been told though that they are working to eliminate the need for this work-around in the near future.
Once your order is submitted, your subscription will start and you will receive automatic shipments of food for your pup. You will receive a confirmation email with your order details and a delivery date, as well as a shipping notification when your package is on the way. NomNomNow is delivered in an insulated box so it will stay cold even if you aren’t home to accept the delivery.
Depending on where you live, you will receive a box of fresh dog food for your pups weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. NomNomNow is based on the West Coast, so East Coast deliveries (where we live) are monthly at the moment. If you live in an area where deliveries are done weekly, there is no need to freeze the food at all, as it is good for up to 8 days in the fridge. We just put the first week’s worth in the fridge and threw the rest in the freezer for later.
As soon as our first shipment was received, ALL of the dogs were eager to check it out. They sniffed the boxes top to bottom. Boomer even went in for a more thorough investigation as I was loading the food into the fridge.
You can tell that a lot of thought and care goes into this food. Everything is portioned and packaged by hand. They also send transition meals to help you safely and easily transition your dog from their current food to NomNomNow. They even put color coded stickers on each bag of food for us! This made it really easy to identify whose food was whose, a BIG deal when you have 4 dogs of different sizes and caloric needs!
I am SO excited to see how our pack does over the next month as they transition to NomNomNow full-time. All I’ll say for now is that the initial consensus is a good one! Be sure to check back for an update and our inside scoop next month!
